The story

Camino Antwerp: Pan-Asian Sharing Plates on Muntstraat

The Chefs and the Kitchen

At Camino in Antwerp, David Copmans and Chef Ana Boznar steer a lively pan-Asian kitchen that treats dining as a communal affair. This straightforward approach recently secured a spot on the Le Fooding list. You select chopsticks or standard cutlery depending on how you prefer to navigate the spread. The seasonal menu keeps the Asian cooking style both current and grounded.

Standout Plates

Grilled broccolini arrives dressed in a sharp kimchi mayonnaise that cuts through the char. Sticky Brussels sprouts coated in a sweet glaze get finished with crushed peanuts and delicate katsuobushi flakes. Dan dan noodles provide a reliable anchor for those seeking comfort, while a simple bowl of steamed rice topped with slow-cooked pork belly rounds out the table. Every dish relies on precise seasoning rather than heavy sauces.

Room and Atmosphere

The dining space maintains a lively, no-nonsense atmosphere centered around small and large sharing plates. Compact tables and raw concrete finishes encourage conversation. An efficient digital ordering system handles the flow during busy service windows. Summer brings guests outside to a wide sun bathed terrace that captures the afternoon light.

Kimchi, chili peppers, sesame seeds and ponzu sauce – plus your choice of chopsticks or western cutlery, it’s up to you: the fusion experience from David Copmans (Osaka) and chef Ana Boznar (ex-AirRepublic) rides the pan-Asian culinary wave on Muntplein square. Seated at one of the small tables in a space done up with plenty of concrete, or on the incredible sunny terrace, you place your order online – a sophisticated system, certainly, but we still prefer a more personalized touch. On our shared plates (which can also be ordered as individual portions): broccolini grilled over the embers and served with kimchi mayonnaise; sticky BXL sprouts in a sweet and sour glaze, sprinkled in peanuts and katsuobushi; incredibly fresh cucumber and sesame salad; iconic dan dan noodles; or even a bowl of rice with pork belly – that could have used a touch more kimchi… // Janjan Bon
