The story
Albert is a fifth-floor bistro overlooking the historic center of Brussels. Filip Fransen directs the kitchen from his post on the Royal Library, adapting the menu every month to follow the seasons. The Le Fooding guide noted this dedication to fresh, sustainable ingredients when listing the venue for 2026. The kitchen experiments with local produce rather than relying on fixed classics.
Seasonal salads often feature Belgian endives paired with saffron butternut cream and toasted sesame. Richer plates like leek-filled cappelletti arrive under a dark sauce made from black trumpet mushrooms. Evenings bring world-inspired street food menus that shift weekly during the warmer months. A simple poached pear wrapped in chocolate foam rounds out the meal without overwhelming the palate.
This bistro spans two thousand two hundred square meters across a wide outdoor terrace. Retro fifties décor meets a refurbished self-service station along the perimeter. Marble-topped tables sit beneath open sky where diners catch sight of the Atomium and the Grand Place spire. Saturday and Sunday brunches run from eleven to three on the same expansive floor.
