Celebrated table
The story
Era brings its contemporary cuisine to Brussels through the hands of Chef Yonathan Cohen. He relocated from Tel Aviv to direct the kitchen here after years leading venues in Israel. His menu emphasizes generous shared plates meant to encourage table interaction. The Le Fooding committee noted how this approach creates a relaxed pace without sacrificing precision.
Visitors regularly order the chargrilled sunchokes resting in a concentrated plant-based broth. The langoustine carpaccio combines raw seafood with a custom furikake blending toasted sesame, nori, and fermented chili powder. This Israeli inspired cuisine relies on precise layering rather than heavy sauces. A matured Dierendonck rib eye arrives alongside potato stacks braised in beef fat and dusted with garum powder.
Patrons access the main floor inside a stately neo-classical structure that doubles as Hôtel Fleur de Ville. Designer Saar Zafrir arranged the interior around a dark mahogany bar, gleaming brass sconces, and heavy patterned drapes. A wide central staircase guides guests upward while framing the dining zones below. Morning crowds gather near the service counter for wild mushroom vol-au-vents and miso-dressed avocado toast.
