The story
At Plein 25, the open kitchen and warm tones create a relaxed yet refined atmosphere. The chef’s presence and the small scale of the dining rooms make for a luxurious but homey experience. The restaurant’s Michelin Recommended status reflects the quiet confidence of the cooking – a seasonal French menu that unfolds without fuss.
The tasting menu, called “Smaak en Ontdekking” (Taste and Discovery), changes with the seasons. A recent five-course offering (€95) began with tuna sashimi, cucumber, daidai, and verbena, followed by North Sea turbot with crab and broccoli. Scallop from Dieppe came with leek and bergamot, langoustine with champagne jus and broad beans, and veal with green asparagus and black garlic. Dessert paired rhubarb with white chocolate and Gariguette strawberries. A six-course option (€115) includes the langoustine, with a wine pairing available for €50 to €60.
On warm afternoons, the inner courtyard invites guests to linger over an aperitif or coffee. The space catches the cool shade of midday and the pleasant sun of the evening, making it a natural extension of the dining room. Private dining is also available for those seeking a more secluded experience.
