The story
Set within the Ten Bogaerde estate in Koksijde, Mondieu welcomes guests into a warm, relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant occupies a historic building, and the team prioritises comfort and conviviality. The cuisine is described as light French, with occasional Mediterranean or Eastern touches — a style that keeps things approachable while allowing for subtle global influences.
Mondieu offers a set menu in two or three courses, changing with the seasons. Each meal offers a choice between fish, meat, and vegetarian options, ensuring there is something for every preference. From Wednesday to Friday, a lunch formula is available at €45, which includes a starter, main course, and coffee or tea. This structure reflects a kitchen that respects rhythm and balance rather than unnecessary complexity.
The restaurant’s quality has been recognised by the Michelin guide, which awarded it a Recommended status in 2026 — a nod to the consistent and thoughtful cooking.
On the same estate, Mondieu operates its own house brewery, Sint-Idesbald, where abbey-style beers are brewed on location. The brewery serves a selection of tapas alongside the beers, including homemade croquettes with North Sea shrimp and aged Parmesan. This adds a casual, convivial dimension to the experience — perfect for a lighter visit before or after a meal in the main dining room.
