A Chef’s Vision in Seneffe

In 2012, chef Stéphanie Thunus and her husband Sébastien opened Au Gré du Vent in Seneffe, building their restaurant close to the family farm. Thunus, a native of Seneffe, trained at the hotel school in Namur and refined her skills alongside renowned chefs before creating her own convivial and refined dining room. Her cuisine is a celebration of modern gastronomy: creative, precise, and deeply respectful of ingredients.

A Cuisine Rooted in Place

Thunus’s cooking champions local, seasonal produce, working closely with passionate producers. Each dish balances texture, colour, and flavour, weaving together tradition and innovation. Her commitment to sustainable, environmentally conscious cooking has made her a defining figure in Belgian fine dining. In 2014, she was named Lady Chef of the Year in Belgium, a recognition of her talent and originality in a field long dominated by men. More recently, her work earned Au Gré du Vent a Michelin star, affirming the restaurant’s place among the country’s top tables.

The Experience

The menu at Au Gré du Vent changes with the seasons. A recent winter offering included roasted half lobster with stuffed ravioli and creamy bisque, followed by free-range chicken stuffed with chestnut, truffle cromesquis, and a fine champagne sauce. Dessert was a gourmet Yule log with Madagascar vanilla and salted butter caramel. The restaurant also offers a takeaway menu and a fine grocery shop selling wines, spirits, chocolates, and gift boxes.
