The story
In the historic Noblessner seaport, where submarines were once built, Lore Bistroo brings a welcoming warmth to a raw industrial shell. This is the shared vision of chef Janno Lepik and sommelier Kristjan Peäske—together known as LP Hospitality—who also run Lee, UMA, and Lessner. Their approach to modern cuisine at Lore is grounded in genuine hospitality: a place where the atmosphere is relaxed and the food is simply delicious.
The kitchen is led by head chef and partner Tauno Tamm, who started as an intern and now sets the rhythm of the busy open kitchen. His team focuses on an "eclectically appealing menu" built around old comfort-food classics, given a refined, contemporary twist.
The menu is designed for sharing—an approach that reflects the belief that breaking bread together creates memories. Highlights include a salted Pähkla trout fillet with miso dressing, pickled mustard seeds, and green onion; a crispy fried Peipsi pike-perch fillet with parsnip cream and jalapeño-lime sauce; and a roasted beef sirloin with celeriac cream, chanterelles, and truffle-port wine sauce. For dessert, the chocolate tart with mint cream and fresh berries or the passion fruit panna cotta with crumble are fitting finishes.
Lore is also family-friendly. Children are welcome, with a dedicated menu and a play shelf of games and coloring supplies; even the youngest guests are catered for with house-made purées.
Lore Bistroo’s quality and value have been recognized with the Michelin Bib Gourmand award, a testament to its commitment to good food at a fair price. The restaurant’s setting—inside Kai Art Center, with a crackling fireplace on busy evenings—adds to its appeal. It’s a place where the warmth of the welcome matches the complexity of the modern cuisine on the plate.
