The story
Just four minutes from the A39 motorway and ten minutes from Lons-le-Saunier, the Auberge de Chavannes sits in the quiet village of Courlans. This Logis hotel and restaurant, a landmark of Jura gastronomy, held a Michelin star for 27 years before Véronique and Michel Béjeannin took over in 2012. Today, they continue that legacy with passion, earning a Michelin Recommended award for their consistently refined cooking.
Michel Béjeannin’s cooking is described as frank, sincere, and creative. Working with the seasons, he selects the best products – sometimes unexpected – and transforms them with a sure hand. He is not afraid to mix sweet and savoury, or to use rare spices with subtlety. The result is a cuisine that feels both grounded in the Jura’s rich terroir and quietly adventurous. The restaurant’s terrace, garden, and cosy dining room provide a welcoming setting for this gastronomic experience.
The Auberge de Chavannes is also a hotel with eleven rooms, each decorated with a travel-inspired theme – from Africa to Asia, Oceania to Paris. The property offers a private car park, a petanque court, and a children’s play area, making it a perfect stopover for travellers exploring the Jura’s wine routes, the Reculée de Baume-les-Messieurs, or the Circuit de Bresse. Whether you come for the gastronomic cuisine or a restful night, the Béjeannins’ warm hospitality makes this auberge a memorable address.
