The story
Facing the sea in Port-Louis, just twenty minutes from Lorient, Avel Vor offers a dining experience rooted in the rhythms of the Breton coast. The restaurant has held a Michelin star since 2007, a testament to its consistent quality. Today, that legacy is in the hands of chefs Camille Lacome and Agathe Richou, who met while working together at La Tour d'Argent in Paris.
Camille honed his craft in Biarritz and at Brikéténia in Guéthary under Martin and David Ibarboure, while Agathe developed her pastry skills at La Tour d'Argent and Le Clarence. In 2021, for their first role as chefs, they earned a Michelin star at a restaurant in Châteauneuf du Pape. In 2022, they took the helm of Avel Vor, making it their own.
The cuisine is a clear expression of their shared vision. The menu changes with the seasons, drawing directly from the local market. A lunchtime "Menu du marché" offers a simpler, spontaneous take on the day's best ingredients. The larger tasting menus, such as "Menu saveurs" and "Menu dégustation," are more elaborate. Dishes might feature Guilvinec langoustine with a mandarin broth, roasted pigeon from Fabrice Le Meur, or blue lobster from Brittany, all prepared with a refined, modern touch. The "Menu premiers pas" provides an accessible introduction to their style. A wine pairing is available for each menu.
The setting is direct and unfussy, with a view of the "petite mer de Gâvres." The restaurant also offers guest rooms under the name "Les Vents de la Mer," allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in the location. This is a restaurant where the precision of the cooking and the quality of the sourcing speak for themselves, anchored by a young couple who have made this historic address their own.
