The story
In the heart of Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère, one of France's most beautiful villages, Le Petit Léon offers a quiet, refined dining experience driven by local produce and international perspective. The restaurant serves modern fine dining that draws inspiration from the surrounding Dordogne landscape, the chefs' travels, and their global heritage. Every element of food and service is connected, blending contemporary modern cuisine with the historic spirit of the village.
Chef Nick Honeyman, a South African-born Australian, brings a classically French training alongside deep experience in modern Japanese kitchens. His career spans Sydney, Tokyo (Sakai Hirotia, La Rochelle), and Paris (Pascal Barbot’s L'Astrance, Alain Passard’s L'Arpège), as well as Auckland’s French Café before opening his own restaurants, including Paris Butter in Auckland. Sina Honeyman, a remarkable sommelier born and raised in Germany, curates a thoughtful, international wine list with connection-focused service. Together with their two young daughters, they have fully embraced Saint-Léon as home.
The restaurant’s approach earned a Michelin star, a recognition of high-quality cooking that reflects both technical skill and a sense of place. Open seasonally from April to October, Le Petit Léon serves dinner Tuesday through Saturday and lunch Thursday through Saturday. The team also operates robo in nearby Montignac year-round.
