High-end vegetarian and vegan tasting menus at a Michelin-starred Berlin restaurant hidden down an alleyway behind a chandelier.

The story

Cookies Cream Berlin – Michelin-Starred Vegetarian Tasting Menus in Mitte

The Setting

Cookies Cream occupies a space that feels like a secret worth sharing. The directions are simple: walk down the alleyway until you reach a chandelier. When you think you’re lost, you’re right. That moment of uncertainty gives way to an upstairs dining room that Conde Nast Traveler calls “quintessentially Berlin” – a place where the cool factor is earned, not forced.

The restaurant has earned a Michelin star for its high-quality cooking, a testament to how seriously the kitchen takes vegetables. This is not a compromise dish; it is the main event, presented with precision and creativity.

The Menu: Luminous Roots

The autumn and winter 2025 tasting menu is called Luminous Roots, and it is available as five, six, or seven courses (priced from 125 to 150 euros). Each course highlights seasonal produce with bold, clean combinations: radish with ponzu and horseradish, chicory with tarragon and beurre noisette, eggplant with carrot and chili. A potato course brings leek and hazelnut; enoki meets truffle and walnut; pumpkin is paired with quince and Jerusalem artichoke. The progression is thoughtful, and the cooking lets vegetables speak without needing to imitate meat.

Wine pairings are optional, featuring both well-known producers and niche natural wines, some biodynamic, some lightly filtered. A non-alcoholic pairing is also offered.

Signature Dishes

Alongside the tasting menu, a few beloved signature dishes are available as upgrades. The onsen egg yolk (22 euros) comes with seaweed caviar and sour cream. The miso cucumber (22 euros) adds potato crunch and more seaweed caviar. A parmesan dumpling (33 euros) rounds out the trio. These dishes have become so popular that the website warns they are “not to be missed.”

Cookies Cream is a wholly vegetarian and vegan restaurant, and the Michelin star underscores that plant-based dining can be as refined and satisfying as any other cuisine. The atmosphere is relaxed but intention-filled – the kind of evening where you notice every detail, from the plating to the service. As one guest put it: “You will wonder why you didn’t go sooner.”
