Hugos Berlin – Michelin-Starred Modern Cuisine with Panoramic City Views

A Michelin Legacy in the Sky

Since 1999, Hugos has held a Michelin star without interruption – a rare record that speaks to decades of consistent excellence. In 2025, the restaurant also earned three black toques from Gault & Millau. Perched on the 14th floor of the InterContinental Berlin, the dining room offers sweeping views across the city, making every meal a visual as well as a culinary event.

Chef Johannes Gehrich

The kitchen is led by Johannes Gehrich, described by the restaurant as one of Germany’s most inventive chefs. His approach pairs exceptional craft with authentic flavours, resulting in modern cuisine that is innovative, sophisticated, and deeply satisfying. The menu changes with the seasons, and a dedicated vegetarian menu is always available.

The Experience

Guests watch the sunset and the city light up as they dine. The wine list is carefully curated, and the restaurant offers a private dining room for special occasions. For a lighter indulgence, the Champagne and Canapés option lets you pair a glass of blanc or rosé with a selection of small bites. Hugos is open Wednesday through Saturday from 6:30 pm to midnight, welcoming guests who appreciate refined cooking in an elegant, unfussy setting.

Concept A breath of fresh air in the gourmet restaurant on the 14th floor of the InterContinental. After ten successful years, Eberhard Lange has handed over to his long-time sous-chef, Johannes Gehrich. Standing by his side is Lisa Schröder, the former sous-chef from Alexander Herrmann's "AURA". Tasting menus are available in 6 or 8 courses (vegetarian options included). Culinary Style Still skillfully classic, yet creatively rejuvenated. For example, scallops are enveloped in gentle aromas of lemongrass foam, peanut vinaigrette, seaweed-carrot purée, and a warming carrot and ginger chutney. Boldly aromatic, bison fillet arrives with trumpet mushrooms, teriyaki sauce, hazelnut-amaranth crunch, crispy-light cauliflower tempura, and bison ham. The exquisite desserts transport you to another world. Wine Shahab Jalali has significantly streamlined the wine list and focuses on classics. Ambiance Stylishly modern, with table lamps that can be dimmed for a romantic atmosphere; best visited at sunset. Verdict A new dream team that fully deserves your attention.
