The story

Lorenz Adlon Esszimmer Berlin – French Fine Dining with Asian Nuance at Pariser Platz

A Room with a View of the Brandenburg Gate

At Unter den Linden 77, inside the legendary Hotel Adlon Kempinski, the Lorenz Adlon Esszimmer occupies one of Berlin's most storied addresses. The dining room looks out directly onto the Brandenburg Gate — a backdrop that sets a quietly dramatic tone without the restaurant needing to try very hard. The atmosphere is deliberately warm and unhurried, conceived as something closer to a private dining room than a grand hotel restaurant: guests are meant to relax, not perform.

Jonas Zörner's Kitchen Philosophy

The cooking here is the work of chef Jonas Zörner, whose approach treats French haute cuisine as a living tradition rather than a museum piece. Classical technique and precision form the backbone of every plate, but Zörner introduces a consistent thread of Asian lightness — an attentiveness to salt, acidity and umami that gives each dish depth without heaviness. The result is a style of European fine dining that feels both grounded and genuinely surprising.

Dinner is structured around a menu of up to six courses, each conceived as a precisely balanced composition of the finest ingredients, masterful technique and creative finesse. Zörner works in close collaboration with the front-of-house team, so the experience extends well beyond what arrives on the plate.

The Team Around the Table

Alongside Zörner, restaurant manager Oliver Kraft and chef sommelier Hans-Martin Konrad complete a trio that gives the Lorenz Adlon Esszimmer its distinctive character. The wine program has earned the Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence — recognition that reflects the seriousness with which Konrad approaches the cellar and the pairing of each course.

The overall ambition of the house is straightforward: to make guests feel genuinely cared for, almost as if dining in someone's home — one that happens to sit at the symbolic heart of Berlin.
