Der Feinschmecker — 3
Concept
Restaurant and wine bar in classic West Berlin; à la carte or menu (3–6 courses) that you assemble yourself.
Cuisine Style
Christopher Wecker prepares modernized-classical dishes, with a hint of Asia often subtly blending into the Francophile foundation. The beef tartare with yellow radish and cucumber salad, served alongside a cup of consommé, is a successful play on temperatures featuring wonderfully balanced seasoning, as is the scallop with peach and foamy goat cheese sauce. Sweetness, acidity, and heat characterize the tender Iberico pork cheek. Most portions are tapas-sized.
Wine
Even as a sommelier at Tim Raue, André Macionga reserved a permanent place for his own selections. Given the 750 references, the vintage depth and precisely matched course pairings are a genuine pleasure, and the non-alcoholic pairing is equally harmonious.
Atmosphere
Relaxed elegance, a perceptive host, and flattering lighting, seasoned with a charming pinch of chaos.
Verdict
Exceptional wine enjoyment and elegant cuisine entirely free of pretension.
