The story

Verōnika Berlin – Fine Dining at Fotografiska on Oranienburger Str.

Art, Cuisine, and a Remarkable Wine List

Restaurant Verōnika occupies the fourth floor of Fotografiska Berlin, the photography and contemporary art museum on Oranienburger Strasse. The building's creative energy carries straight into the dining room, where European cuisine and a carefully considered wine program sit alongside six floors of exhibitions and cultural programming. It is a combination that feels deliberate rather than incidental — art and food genuinely informing each other rather than simply sharing a postcode.

The wine program earned Verōnika a Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence in 2025, a recognition that speaks to both the depth of the list and the seriousness with which it is curated. Wine pairing is available alongside the tasting menu, making it easy to let the two work in tandem across an evening.

A Kitchen That Follows the Season

The kitchen organises itself around what is ripe and ready. The spring menu brings tender vegetables, fresh herbs, and bright contrasts — "refined, fresh, and full of life," as the kitchen describes it. Summer shifts the focus to the garden: strawberries and apricots, fennel and chanterelles, burrata and spelt, plates layered with citrus and herb. The summer menu is fully vegetarian, proof that restraint can produce something with real depth. Dessert, in the kitchen's own words, is "simple — chilled, soft, and exactly what the season calls for."

This seasonal European approach means the menu changes with genuine intention, not just for variety's sake.

Sunday Brunch and Bar Verōnika

Beyond dinner, Verōnika runs "The Art of Brunch" on Sunday mornings — a weekly ritual that draws a different crowd from the evening tasting menu but shares the same setting and sensibility. One floor up, Bar Verōnika on the fifth level extends the experience later into the night.

The restaurant also accommodates private dining, and the building's exclusive entrance beneath the arch gives the whole arrival a quiet sense of occasion.

Concept Indulgence in the trendy hub of the established art scene, located in the renovated ruins of the Friedrichstraße-Passage, formerly home to the "Kunsthaus Tacheles". À la carte offerings, seasonal three-course menu. Two bars. Culinary Style Roel Lintermans, who once worked with Pierre Gagnaire, is a master of fish and sauces. Together with Philipp Tröbs, they craft light, contemporary dishes such as caper gnocchi with artichoke, caper leaves, mustard seeds, and spinach beurre blanc. Delightfully aromatic turbot fillet is presented on a bed of paper-thin zucchini slices and bathed in a white wine mussel sauce. Excellent grilled dishes. Saffron crème caramel is flambéed tableside. Wine Perfectly paired with new discoveries from Germany and France, such as Bernhard Huber from Baden or Henry Boillot in Burgundy. Excellent spirits from The Mosel Destillers. Atmosphere Cosmopolitan, sophisticated. Hostess Maria Gaya Mesquida keeps a watchful eye on everything. Until 11 p.m., the exhibition spaces of "Fotografiska Berlin", Berlin's photography museum to which "Verōnika" belongs, are open. Conclusion International, diverse, creative – this is where Berlin ticks.
