The story
Since 1988, the Kucher family has been welcoming guests to their hotel in the heart of the Vulkaneifel region. What began as a modest three-star country inn has evolved into a celebrated four-star Genuss- und Businesshotel, thanks to the vision of founders Heidi and Martin Kucher. Today, the second generation – Stefanie Becker and chef Florian Kucher – carries the tradition forward, with a particular focus on the hotel’s Michelin-starred dining room: Kucher’s Gourmet Restaurant.
The restaurant’s complex, modern cuisine draws on classic techniques and regional inspiration. Guests choose from four to seven courses, with highlights such as Florian’s signature dish: scallop “Leche de Tigre” with avocado and passion fruit. Other courses might include yellowtail with Granny Smith apple and jalapeño, Joselito Ibérico Bellota with tandoori spices, or Eifel venison with parsnip and blackberry. The progression is thoughtful, with a cleansing sorbet course (Windspiel Gin “Red Snapper”) and a dessert of apricot and Raffaello.
The kitchen’s precision and creativity earned a Michelin star in 2026, a recognition that speaks to the consistent quality of the cooking. The restaurant’s classic cuisine foundation is evident in the careful balance of flavors and respect for ingredients.
The wine list is a point of pride, with a dedicated wine pairing option for each menu length. The setting is refined yet unpretentious, with outdoor seating available in warmer months. The restaurant requests that groups of six or more choose a single menu in advance, and advises guests with dietary restrictions to inform the team ahead of time – vegetarian menus are possible with notice, though vegan or lactose-free options are not available.
For a taste of the Eifel’s finest modern classic cuisine, Kucher’s Gourmet Restaurant delivers a memorable evening anchored by family hospitality and a Michelin-starred kitchen.
