The story
Kucher’s Weinwirtschaft sits within the family-run Kucher’s Genuss- & Businesshotel in Darscheid, near Daun. What began in 1988 as a modest 3-star country hotel has grown into a 4-star destination, now led by the second generation – Stefanie Becker and Florian Kucher. The Weinwirtschaft is the heart of the house: a relaxed, unpretentious space where guests gather for genuine hospitality and regional flavours.
The kitchen, under chef Florian Kucher, focuses on country cooking that is both creative and rooted in tradition. The menu draws on products from local Eifel producers, prepared with care and honesty. Whether modern interpretations or dishes “wie zu Mutters Zeiten”, the food is described as “ausgezeichnete, frische Küche” – excellent, fresh cooking. Vegetarian options are available, and the atmosphere is deliberately informal, making it a place for lingering over a meal.
The Weinwirtschaft lives up to its name. The hotel’s wine collection is one of the largest in Rhineland-Palatinate, and the Weinwirtschaft offers a carefully curated selection by the glass or bottle. This is a key draw for guests who appreciate an interesting wine list, and it pairs seamlessly with the hearty, regional dishes.
The Weinwirtschaft has earned a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026, reflecting its consistent quality and welcoming spirit. (The hotel’s separate gourmet restaurant holds a Michelin star; the Weinwirtschaft stands on its own as a more casual yet equally commendable dining experience.) With outdoor seating in warmer months and ample parking, it is a convenient stop for anyone exploring the Eifel region.
Kucher’s Weinwirtschaft is open Tuesday to Saturday from 17:30, with coffee and cake from 15:00. It is a place where regional country cooking, fine wine, and genuine hospitality come together – no fuss, just good taste.
