The story
In the small Allgäu town of Isny, the Allgäuer Stuben is the restaurant of the family-run Hotel Hohe Linde. Sisters Carolin and Susanne Rimmele welcome guests with a warmth that feels personal rather than rehearsed. The kitchen, led by Susanne Rimmele, works with carefully selected, fresh ingredients from the region, turning them into dishes that balance tradition and modern ideas.
The cooking is grounded in the Allgäu’s culinary roots but not bound by them. A Mediterranean influence appears in the use of light, fresh flavours, giving the country cooking an unexpected lift. The result is a style that feels both familiar and surprising. The restaurant’s Bib Gourmand award from Michelin recognises this kind of reliable, high-quality cooking at a fair price.
Beyond the regular menu, special evenings add to the experience. Friday nights feature a four-course candlelight dinner, prepared on request. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, the Kaminabend brings guests together around an open fire, where meat and fresh fish are grilled right in front of them. Private dining is available for celebrations, and the restaurant also offers cooking classes on themes like pasta, wild mushrooms and game, or Swabian classics – tailored to seasonal ingredients.
The atmosphere is simple and welcoming, with a focus on making guests feel looked after. The Allgäuer Stuben is open from 5 pm to 10 pm, Monday to Saturday, closed on Sundays.
