The story
In the heart of Cologne’s Belgian Quarter, within a heritage-protected building, Limbourg offers a refined take on French and International cuisine. The menu changes every eight to ten weeks, reflecting the seasons and the kitchen’s commitment to freshness and precision.
The restaurant’s guiding philosophy is simple: “A good kitchen is the foundation of all happiness.” This is evident in the carefully composed tasting menus, available in five, seven, or nine courses. The nine-course “Infinité” degustation is described as a liaison of product and craft, where the essence of nature is refined with subtle balance. Guests can choose between a classic menu featuring seafood, game, and beef, or a dedicated vegetarian (veggie) version that highlights vegetables, truffles, and inventive textures. Each menu is available with a carefully selected wine pairing.
Limbourg’s recognition as Michelin Recommended underscores its consistent quality and thoughtful approach. The dining experience is complemented by a large selection of wines from around the world, and the option to extend the menu upon request for those seeking a longer evening.
Beyond the tasting menus, Limbourg hosts a monthly tradition: “Dimanche de grand-mère” on the third Sunday of each month. From 1 PM, the table is set with a variety of starters, soup, main courses, sides, and desserts, served on large platters in a relaxed, family-style atmosphere. It is an unpretentious Sunday lunch designed for connection and generosity, priced at €55 per person.
The restaurant also offers private dining in the BelEtage and catering services, making it a versatile destination for both intimate dinners and special celebrations. With its warm, unforced hospitality and a kitchen that respects both tradition and creativity, Limbourg is a steady presence in Cologne’s dining scene.
