The story
Owner-chef Kathrin Bucher extends a warm, personal welcome at Villa Feer, a restaurant she and her family have run since 2012. After years in renowned international kitchens, Bucher found her true home in this historic villa, built in 1900 as a private residence. The setting is both elegant and relaxed, with a strong sense of place rooted in the Markgräflerland region.
The kitchen focuses on fresh, natural ingredients and careful presentation. The menu changes with the seasons, offering a small, rotating selection of the team’s favourite dishes from the past decade. A weekly lunch menu complements the à la carte options, and on Saturday evenings, the carte is built from these same dishes. The restaurant’s commitment to quality and atmosphere has earned it a Michelin Recommended status for 2026.
Villa Feer has recently shifted its focus to lunch service, with the kitchen open until 14:30. Afternoons are given over to homemade desserts, ice creams, and sorbets, available until 17:00. The restaurant’s popular brunch, served on select Sundays, features a generous spread including wood-fired bread, regional meats and cheeses, fresh salads, and dishes like braised beef shoulder on Parmesan polenta. The wine list highlights local producers from the Markgräflerland and the Pfalz, with selections that change alongside the seasonal menu.
The villa itself has a story to tell. Built for Adolf Feer, founder of the nearby Lauffenmühle textile mill, it remained in the family until 1983. Later converted into a restaurant for the Lörrach state garden show, it has been under the care of the Bucher family since 2012. Today, it offers a space where the past and present meet over a plate of thoughtfully prepared, seasonal international cuisine.
