The story
At the Garden-Restaurant inside Munich’s Hotel Bayerischer Hof, proven classics and brasserie dishes are reimagined with a contemporary, international sensibility. The kitchen’s “Green Gusto” concept pairs timeless favourites with lighter, seasonal vegetables and fresh herbs, resulting in dishes that are both familiar and surprising. A recent Gusto review captured the spirit: a venison sauce alongside fruitily accentuated red beet and an umami-rich salsify purée – unconventional yet rooted in tradition.
The setting is equally thoughtful. The winter garden, designed by Belgian artist and designer Axel Vervoordt, feels like an artist’s studio with industrial accents and an adjoining sun terrace. A fireplace separates the dining room from the Garden Salon, creating distinct yet connected spaces for lunch or dinner. During warmer months, the terrace extends the experience outdoors.
The restaurant’s quality has earned recognition from multiple guides: a Michelin recommendation, 1 toque with distinction in Gault & Millau, 6 pans in Gusto, and 3 chef’s hats in the Großer Guide. Whether for a business lunch or a leisurely evening, the Garden offers an inspiring blend of classic and contemporary – all served in an atmosphere that is at once elegant and welcoming.
