The story
Pfistermühle occupies Munich’s oldest mill building, directly at Platzl and just a five-minute walk from Marienplatz. The interior is a tribute to craftsmanship: the historical stone floor remains, aged wood has been freshly limed, and felt, sackcloth, and aromatic leather were shaped into furniture by hand. Even the wine coolers were made especially for this space. The atmosphere bridges past and present, offering a warm, unpretentious dining room where every detail is handmade.
The kitchen team, led by head chef Tino Nawrocki, focuses on regionality, sustainability, and seasonality. Dishes draw from local producers: fresh fish from Ammersee, cheese made from Tegernseer hay milk, and veal from Upper Bavarian pasture-fed calves. The result is country cooking that feels refined yet direct – a modern cuisine that never loses sight of its source. The menu changes with the seasons, and the cooks welcome guests to peek into the kitchen before or after peak hours. This openness reflects the restaurant’s philosophy: “handwerklich, leidenschaftlich, echt” – crafted, passionate, genuine.
Every Thursday, Pfistermühle hosts a Chefs Table event: a five-course seasonal menu paired with insights from the kitchen team. It is a way to experience the cooking up close and taste the creativity that has earned the restaurant a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026. The recognition is a natural fit for a place that interprets traditional recipes in original, surprising ways without straying from honest Bavarian roots.
When the sun is out, the terrace offers a relaxed spot for enjoying the same region-driven plates. With outdoor seating available, Pfistermühle adapts to the seasons as naturally as its menu does. Whether inside the historic rooms or outside on the terrace, the focus remains on genuine hospitality and a cuisine that reflects the landscape of Bavaria.
