The story

Schlossanger Alp in Pfronten – Contemporary Country Cooking with Alpine Views

Tief verwurzelt. Echt.

High above the valley at 1,130 metres, the Schlossanger Alp in Pfronten offers a different pace. The air is clearer, the light softer. Here, between sky and valley, the tempo slows and the view expands. The family-run Berghotel, owned by the Schlachter-Ebert family, feels like coming home: nothing is forced, everything is genuine—the people, the house, the nature.

A Cuisine That Tastes of Nature

The kitchen at Schlossanger Alp practices a straightforward approach to flavour. Their philosophy is to let the product speak, without overwhelming the palate with too many components. This unpretentious, precise style of contemporary country cooking is one of the reasons the restaurant is consistently rated among the best 300 in Germany, and why it earned a Michelin recommendation. Every plate is an invitation to see what is happening on the plate, and to taste everything the ingredient has to offer.

A Place to Stay and Unwind

The hotel offers 20 rooms and 15 suites, each with a distinct character. Beatrice and Bärbel combine favourite pieces, natural materials, and curated accessories—sometimes cosy, sometimes modern, always bright and welcoming. Since April 2025, guests can also enjoy the new ALP SPA, complete with an infinity pool, saunas, steam bath, and an outdoor earth sauna, all with summit views. For those seeking more independence, the BERG UND TAL apartment house provides stylish lofts for a flexible stay.

An Escape That Feels Like Home

Whether you are enjoying a spring morning on the sun terrace or a Campari aperitif by the fire in the Kaminstube, the Schlossanger Alp is a place where time stands still. It is a genuine Alpine refuge, rooted in its surroundings and welcoming to all who arrive.

Concept At 1,300 meters, Hotel Schlossanger Alp offers an extensive wellness program from the Ebert family in a beautiful secluded setting. In the restaurant, Junior Bastian has been serving locally inspired cuisine for several years. Menu and à la carte options. Culinary Style After several stints in top-tier kitchens, Bastian Ebert took over the kitchen from his mother, Barbara Schlachter-Ebert. He loves regional products but draws international inspiration for their selection and preparation. The menu begins, for example, with a creation featuring smoked eel, pearl onions, lovage, and buttermilk. He serves venison as tataki, accompanied by egg yolk, caviar, spring onions, and teriyaki sauce. Veal liver, onion roast beef, and Wiener schnitzel are also available. Wine Extensive selection with around 500 items. Non-alcoholic beverages by Jörg Geiger. Ambiance The modern atmosphere prevails in the elegant restaurant and bright winter garden. Traditional charm defines the "Zirbenstube" and "Mucks' Dining Room." Beautiful outdoor areas in summer offer views of the Falkenstein castle ruins. Verdict Both experimentalists and traditionalists will find exactly what they're looking for here.
