The story
Set in the Collio hills of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Ronchi Rò is an agriturismo where the kitchen is powered by flame and fire. The cooking is a direct expression of the surrounding landscape—what the property calls "country cooking." The Michelin Bib Gourmand award recognizes the good quality, good value cooking found here, a testament to a kitchen that works in perpetual, complex relationship with its raw ingredients.
The experience begins long before the plate is set. Guests can gather edible herbs and wild garlic on guided walks through the woods, learning to recognise and cook what nature provides by season. The "Outdoor Cuisine" experience takes things further: fire and flame, mud and water, a primitive meal prepared in the property’s own woodland with the chef, using ingredients foraged on the spot.
Back at the table, the wine list is small but full of personality. Ronchi Rò produces a limited number of Collio DOC wines—a Merlot, a Friulano, and a Sauvignon—each made from hand-harvested grapes and aged with care. The labels themselves are designed to convey the uniqueness of the place.
The honey served at breakfast comes from the property’s own beehives, and the rhythm of the day is set by the seasons. Whether you come for dinner in front of the fireplace or to explore the border territories on foot, by bike, or on horseback, Ronchi Rò offers a kind of hospitality that feels both ancient and immediate.
