The story

Shiroya | Authentic Japanese Cuisine in Rome Near Campo de' Fiori

Shiroya: Traditional Japanese Cooking in the Heart of Rome

A few steps from Campo de' Fiori, Shiroya brings the authentic flavours of Japan to Rome. The kitchen is led by a chef who comes directly from Japan, ensuring that every dish follows traditional recipes and techniques. The restaurant describes itself as a warm, intimate space where the freshness of the ingredients and the skill of the sushi chef create a genuine Japanese dining experience.

The menu is a journey through Japanese gastronomy. Handmade gyoza, ramen, and donburi – rice bowls topped with everything from grilled eel (unajyu) to tempura (tendon) – sit alongside a full range of sushi, sashimi, and maki. Standout warm dishes include the roasted eel and the Chasyu yakimeshi. The kitchen is guided by the principles of Japanese culture: respect for timing, balance, and tradition.

Shiroya also offers a carefully selected drinks list focused on Japanese beers. Alongside well-known labels like Asahi, Kirin, and Sapporo, the menu features craft options from the Coedo brewery and Uijin Yuzu, each chosen to pair perfectly with the food.

The restaurant’s commitment to authentic Japanese cuisine has been recognised by the MICHELIN Guide, which recommended Shiroya in its 2025 edition – a mark of quality in the Eternal City.
