A place with atmosphere

In the quiet countryside of Tērvete, Latvia, Zoltners is a restaurant, hotel, and brewery built around a simple idea: make time irrelevant. Surrounded by the fields and meadows of the Zemgale region, the property offers a peaceful setting where architecture and nature meet. The owners, Valters and Gunita Brusa, named the place after Valters’ great-grandfather—a gesture of responsibility and personal care that runs through every detail.

The kitchen is led by chef Nauris Malāhovs, a firm believer in local produce. He creates what the restaurant calls “combinations of Northern European flavours,” drawing on the best each season offers from Zemgale’s fertile soil. His mission, as stated on the restaurant’s own site, is to “give the taste of delight.” Malāhovs has worked in Germany and with master chefs in Latvia, and his cooking reflects both discipline and a deep respect for the land.

Zoltners also runs its own brewery, producing three original beer varieties made from home-grown barley—a long-held dream of owner Valters Bruss, who is an experienced farmer. The beer is brewed from grain to mug, and cannot be found anywhere else.

The restaurant’s commitment to quality and atmosphere has earned it a Michelin Recommended award, a recognition that aligns with the team’s own pursuit of excellence in every detail. Whether for a meal, a glass of house-brewed beer, or simply a walk through the surrounding tulip and peony fields, Zoltners offers a genuine taste of Latvian countryside hospitality.
