The story

Léa Linster, Frisange – Two Michelin Star Modern French & Asian Cuisine

A contemporary house rooted in family

In Frisange, just minutes from the French border, a luminous, discreet house welcomes diners in search of emotion. This is the home of Louis Linster, a restaurant that carries the legacy of its founder, Léa Linster, and is now run by her son, chef Louis Linster, alongside maîtresse de maison Njomza Musli. The space is stripped back and warm, with contemporary elegance and large windows that open onto rolling countryside. The kitchen itself is visible from the dining room, setting the stage for an experience built on precision and intimacy.

A self‑taught chef with a global palette

Louis Linster, an autodidact, cooks with sensitivity and exacting technique. His menus are composed like a score: a balance of depth and freshness, of French tradition with Nordic and Asian accents. He sources premium ingredients – Norwegian langoustine, Japanese Crown melon, hybrid N25 caviar – and works them into a rhythm of textures and aromas. The cuisine is not about showmanship; it aims to move. This approach earned the restaurant two Michelin stars, and Louis Linster was named Chef of the Year 2024 by Gault&Millau Luxembourg.

An experience refined in every detail

The dining room is bathed in light, the service fluid and attentive, orchestrated by Njomza Musli, awarded Best Hostess in 2022. Each menu can be paired with classic wines or with creative non‑alcoholic blends built from teas, juices and infusions, all crafted by the kitchen. The cellar holds over 1,000 labels, chosen for their precision and accessibility. Every element, from the plating to the atmosphere, is designed to let the food and the moment speak.

Since we first started following "young Louis", we have been able to admire his progress over the last five years. Crowned with the title of Young Chef of the Year in 2021 and the highly coveted Chef of the Year in 2024, he today boasts 4 toques and an excellent score. This consistent ascent has been confirmed once again this year. First of all comes the gorgeous revamp of the reception and dining areas, with warm, luxurious and very comfortable furnishings. Next, there is the attentive service provided by the same team, working under the watchful eye of Njomza Linster, whose smiling, cheerful presence is always a pleasure to behold. And finally, Chef Louis's cuisine, as exemplified by his perfectly tender green asparagus coated in a classic yellow wine mousseline, accompanied by a few discreet morels that complement the asparagus without overpowering it. A lightly confit Arctic char is accompanied by several textures, including a very subtle dashi beurre blanc. A langoustine with crunchy millet, served with a squash broth, yellow chilli and sea buckthorn oil, brings the meal to a close with near perfection – a truly moving dish! And one more title for the address, that of Pastry Chef of the Year for the young and talented Victoria Scharff, to discover in detail on the winner's page!
