The story
Perched at Tigné Point in Sliema, Chophouse commands one of the Mediterranean’s most celebrated vistas — Valletta’s fortified skyline across the harbour, a panorama long called “one of the finest views of Europe.” It is a setting that frames every meal, whether you are seated on the spacious terrace or at the bar with its outside deck.
The kitchen’s philosophy is direct: source the freshest and finest ingredients, flavour them with spices and herbs from around the world, and cook with both traditional methods and new techniques. The menu is an expression of that creativity, but the true anchor is the grill. Chophouse operates Malta’s largest all-charcoal grill, where selected cuts of prime beef — Scottona, Angus and Wagyu — are hung, aged, and butchered in-house. Dry-aging happens on the premises, and every cut, from head to tail, is prepared with care.
This commitment to classic grill cuisine earned Chophouse a Michelin Plate, a distinction for “good cooking” in a “delightful place.” The recognition is woven into the restaurant’s ethos: going the extra mile in sourcing, preparing, and serving.
Beyond the grill, the wine programme is a destination in itself. The climate-controlled wine cave stocks several hundred bottles from world-renowned wineries and lesser-known labels waiting to be discovered. Guests are invited to enter the cave and choose their preferred bottle, and many wines are available by the glass using a Coravin system. The bar, open evenings, boasts one of Malta’s best selections of whiskies, gins and fine spirits, alongside a choice of cigars.
For Sunday lunch, the “Family Affair” offers comforting flavours and shared plates, all set against the same breathtaking backdrop. Whether for a weekday dinner or a leisurely afternoon, Chophouse delivers a refined yet welcoming experience built on bold flavours and genuine hospitality.
