Marea is a restaurant and lounge bar that blends the best of Asian and Mediterranean cuisines—a style the team calls "mediterrasian." The menu draws heavily from Japanese traditions, offering sushi, sashimi, and tempura alongside pasta, fresh seafood, fish, and meat dishes. Seasonal, local produce is used throughout, and the presentations are stylish and refined.

The restaurant sits on the Kalkara Waterfront, with panoramic views across the historic Grand Harbour. The setting is as much a part of the experience as the food, with outdoor seating available and a lounge atmosphere that works for both dinner and private parties.

Chef Ryan Vella

Behind the kitchen is Chef Ryan Vella, who trained in several Michelin-starred restaurants in the United Kingdom. He later returned to Malta, where he led a restaurant that earned Michelin recognition—experience he now brings to Marea. Chef Vella's approach is hands-on and guest-focused, aiming to create an immersive dining experience that leaves customers satisfied.
