The story
Lunario sits in the Valle de Guadalupe, Ensenada’s wine country, where the landscape itself informs the kitchen. The restaurant operates on a tasting menu format—six or eight courses—that changes with the seasons, drawing directly from the farm and garden on-site and from local producers. This is contemporary Mexican cooking rooted in place, not in abstraction.
The kitchen is led by chef Sheyla Alvarado, whose work earned Lunario a Michelin star in 2025 and 2026, as well as a Michelin Green Star for gastronomy and sustainability. The restaurant also ranks among Latin America’s 50 Best. But the accolades never overshadow the food: the menu evolves as ingredients come into their peak, and the kitchen adjusts for dietary restrictions, offering vegetarian and vegan options with advance notice.
Dining at Lunario is a multisensory experience, as the restaurant describes it, with exclusive pairings that complement each course. The atmosphere is unhurried, the service attentive. Whether you opt for six or eight courses, the meal reflects a clear philosophy: let the ingredient speak, respect the season, and keep the cooking honest.
The setting—outdoor seating, air conditioning for comfort, private event space—makes it suitable for both special occasions and a quiet evening in the valley. Parking is on-site, and the restaurant is open for dinner. Reservations require a deposit, a small commitment for a meal that stays with you.
