The story
Bistro de Holterberg sits at the foot of the Holterberg, a spot with over a hundred years of history. What began as a tea house in the 1920s, and later became a hotel, was transformed into a bistro in 1993. Since 1999, the restaurant has been run by Luc Hans and Hidzer Gorter, who have carefully preserved the classic cuisine concept that defines the place.
Luc, the chef, and Hidzer, the host, have worked together for more than 25 years. Their philosophy is built on a few clear principles: they work only with local suppliers, use daily fresh produce, and will not serve a dish if the key ingredient is not available. This commitment to quality and freshness is the foundation of their kitchen, and it has earned them a Michelin Recommended distinction in 2026.
The atmosphere is informal with a classic edge. Guests are not hurried, and the restaurant stops taking reservations when it is full. The menu follows the seasons, featuring traditional dishes made with ingredients from the surrounding region. The wine list includes white, rosé, red, and aperitif options, all chosen to complement the food.
Whether you arrive by train and walk up the hill in ten minutes, or drive and park on site, the bistro is easy to reach. The restaurant is wheelchair friendly.
