The story
Three suns already shine over Palatial. A ten-minute drive from Braga’s historic centre, the restaurant occupies a striking contemporary building where art is part of the fabric. Works by Joana Vasconcelos, Paulo Neves and Manuel Correia punctuate the space, which was designed for maximum comfort and elegance.
In 2025, Palatial became the first restaurant in Braga to earn a Michelin star. The guide renewed the distinction in 2026, recognising the daily work of chef Rui Filipe and his team. The award, the restaurant says, “reaffirms our commitment to excellence, creativity and the gastronomic identity that defines us.”
The kitchen at Palatial Restaurant serves authentic, unique and delicate dishes, prepared to the smallest detail. The menu is a sophisticated and creative take on modern cuisine, inspired by local ingredients and the Mediterranean. Seasonal changes are marked – the Primavera (Spring) menu, for example, balances “entre mar e terra” (between sea and land). The restaurant describes its cooking as “pratos autênticos, únicos e delicados” – dishes that are both refined and rooted in place.
Beyond the main dining room, guests can choose the Palatial Terrace for al fresco meals or the Palatial Vigna for private tastings. The Amistad Wine cellar offers an exclusive collection of wines and champagnes from around the world, with partnerships that allow for rare tastings and masterclasses. For those seeking something truly exclusive, the Food, Wine & Friends event – held just four times a year, limited to twelve guests – pairs a degustation menu with rare wines and champagnes in the Vigna room.
Palatial is not just a restaurant; it is a complete destination that brings together fine dining, art, wine and hospitality in a single, carefully considered place.
