The story
At the foothills of Pohorje in Zgornja Polskava, Miza za štiri redefines what a restaurant can be. With just twelve seats, it is Slovenia’s smallest restaurant — a deliberate choice that allows for complete focus on each guest. The space is intimate, with handcrafted wooden tables and warm lighting, creating an atmosphere that feels more like a private home than a public dining room.
Chef Jure Brložnik leads the kitchen, drawing on fresh, local ingredients and a deep respect for seasonality. His approach is precise and innovative, yet grounded in a desire to create dishes that linger in memory. Maja Miška Brložnik, the maître d’, ensures that every arrival is met with genuine warmth, setting the tone for a meal that is as much about connection as it is about food. Behind the scenes, two sommeliers curate a wine list that complements each course, while a plate designer and a woodworker contribute to the restaurant’s singular aesthetic.
Miza za štiri offers two distinct tasting experiences. The Classic Journey is a seven-course menu that showcases the kitchen’s signature dishes — a balance of elegance and emotion. The more immersive option, Through Fire, Whispers & Memories, unfolds beyond the table, weaving together cuisine, scent, sound, and ritual. Vegetables take a central role, complemented by fresh seafood and a single, thoughtfully chosen meat course. The menu shifts with the seasons, reflecting a commitment to ingredient quality.
This dedication to craft has earned the restaurant a Michelin recommendation and three Gault&Millau toques, placing it among Slovenia’s notable destinations for modern cuisine.
