The story
On a quiet street in the heart of Mataró, Dos Cuiners invites you into a space where contemporary cooking meets genuine hospitality. "L'excel·lència en un platet, els sentits en una copa de vi," reads their welcome — excellence on a plate and the senses in a glass of wine. It is a promise they deliver on every visit.
Dos Cuiners holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand for good quality, good value cooking. The award reflects a kitchen that balances technique with soul. The menu changes with the season, offering a midweek set lunch (Menú Setmana) alongside a more extensive carta and tasting menus. Dishes evolve, but recent plates tell the story well: a crunchy vegetable and mushroom roll with romesco sauce, coca d'escalivada with marinated anchovies and watermelon, hummus with corn crunch and avocado, tataki de vedella (beef tataki), and a classic brownie. The approach is contemporary Catalan — rooted in local ingredients and presented with care.
Dos Cuiners describes itself simply as "el teu restaurant" — your restaurant. The dining room is comfortable and accessible, with outdoor seating for sunny days, air conditioning when the Mediterranean heat rises, and wheelchair access throughout. They also host private parties, making it a natural gathering place for celebrations.
The name means "two cooks," and while the site is sparse on individual chef names, the sense of a hands-on, passionate team comes through. The gallery page ends with a sincere wish: "Desitgem que us hagi agradat la selecció de Plats del Nostre Restaurant; Encara que és millor Gaudir-los en Persona!!" — they hope you enjoyed the selection, but it's even better to enjoy them in person. Hard to argue with that.
