The story
In the castizo Barrio del Carmen, just a short walk from Murcia's cathedral, Polea operates as an independent, family-run restaurant. Their philosophy is direct: "Lo que hay es lo que ves" — what you see is what you get. The team works daily from four pillars: proximity, trust, craftsmanship, and honesty.
The open kitchen and dining room are intentionally connected, making the cooking part of the experience. Polea describes itself as a close, welcoming, and personal space where the focus is on the product. Every dish reflects sensitivity, care, and a commitment to minimizing food waste.
Polea does not offer a static menu. Instead, they create a seasonal tasting menu that evolves based on what local farmers and fishermen provide. As they put it, "it's on the menu until it's not." Each dish stays for a few weeks or sometimes just a few days, depending on product availability and quality. The charm of this handmade approach is that every meal is unique.
The current seasonal menu (€52 per person, excluding drinks) begins with welcome snacks and an amuse bouche, followed by house-made sourdough bread with butter. Then come three courses and a dessert. The team adapts the menu for pescatarian, vegetarian, and gluten-free diets when possible.
Polea's dedication to product-driven, contemporary cooking earned it a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026. This recognition aligns with the restaurant's core belief: the best meals are those where you simply sit down and enjoy, without having to choose. Reservations are accepted for tables of up to six, and the restaurant is open for lunch Tuesday through Saturday, with dinner service on Fridays and Saturdays.
