The story
Fyr sits on one of Sweden’s most beautiful stretches of coast, at Tjuvahålsvägen 9 in Halmstad. The restaurant looks out over Tylön and the Kattegatt, and the sea is a constant presence – in the light through the windows, in the ingredients that arrive in the kitchen, and in the calm that settles over the dining room. The space is welcoming, with a bar that offers front-row views of the water, and a private dining room called Tjuvahålan that can host up to forty guests with its own entrance, cloakroom, and bar.
Chef Jacob Holmström leads the kitchen at Fyr. The food philosophy is direct: dishes should have a clear identity, a connection to the location, and a balance between the new and the classic. The result is modern cuisine that tastes of the season and the Swedish coast. The Michelin guide recognised this approach with a Recommended award in 2026, noting the restaurant’s commitment to genuine craftsmanship and personal service.
Lunch is served Wednesday through Friday, with two weekly-changing options – one called Klassikern and one called Fyrs val – both priced at 195 SEK and built around Swedish ingredients. On Fridays, the full à la carte menu is also available. Dinner runs Thursday to Saturday, and brunch is offered every other Sunday (weekly from April). The Thursday deal, available in the bar or at the kitchen hatch, pairs a main course with a glass of wine or beer for 250 SEK – a simple, generous way to experience the kitchen’s cooking.
For larger groups, Fyr offers three private dining packages, each built around a three-course dinner with wine pairing, coffee, and petit fours. The setting, with panoramic views over the water, makes it a natural choice for celebrations or corporate events.
Fyr is not a restaurant that tries to be everything. It knows what it is: a seaside meeting place where the best ingredients of the season are treated with respect, where the service is warm and professional, and where the view never gets old. The Michelin Recommended award confirms what regulars already know – this is a kitchen worth travelling for.
