The story
Perched in the village of Chardonne, Là-Haut is the kind of place that lives up to its name – “up there” – offering a privileged setting with views that stretch across the vineyards toward the lake. Inside, the cooking of Julien and Morgane is the real draw: generous, creative, and rooted in the French bistronomie tradition.
The duo describe their cuisine as “généreuse et créative,” where sharing and conviviality come first. That spirit is reflected in a midday menu that changes regularly, built around seasonal produce and honest technique. A recent spring offering included a chilled pea velouté with mint and fresh ricotta, followed by Gruyère pork loin with a crispy galette and sage jus, or sea bass with confit leek and potato coulis. The vegetarian option – a farfelue of chickpeas in tomato sauce with olives, capers, and anchovies – shows the kitchen’s range.
Là-Haut earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2026, an award that recognises good quality, good value cooking. It fits naturally: the cooking is precise but unpretentious, and the three-course lunch menu (46 CHF) represents real value in this corner of Vaud. The restaurant also offers a takeaway planchette, a special group menu, and occasional themed evenings – such as a recent olive oil discovery dinner.
The atmosphere is warm and relaxed, with outdoor seating in good weather and wheelchair access. Open Wednesday to Saturday for lunch and dinner, and Sunday for lunch only. Closed Monday and Tuesday.
Whether you come for the midday menu, a private party, or simply a glass of the daily “déci du midi” (house-selected white, red, or rosé at 6 CHF), Là-Haut delivers a genuine, farm-to-table experience that feels both elevated and welcoming.
