The story
La Scarpetta began in 2017 as a Thursday-evening pop-up at the QN Bar in St. Moritz. Three friends with different backgrounds shared a simple vision: “back to the origins.” Their first chef’s table offered a four-course menu with wine, and guests paid what they felt the evening was worth. The honest feedback became the foundation for everything that followed.
In December 2018, the pop-up found a permanent home in a former shoemaker’s workshop on Via Veglia. The name “La Scarpetta” comes from the Italian expression fare la scarpetta — the last bite of bread used to mop up the sauce on the plate. It’s a gesture of true enjoyment, and that spirit defines the restaurant.
The menu is built around antipasti to share, fresh pasta made daily, and honest Italian contemporary cuisine. The kitchen keeps things lively and uncomplicated — gustoso. There is a particular connection to Piedmont, which is reflected in the wine list of around 400 bottles. From well-known names to small discoveries, the selection showcases wines with character.
The setting retains the warmth of the original workshop, with a family-oriented feel. Outdoor seating, a private room, and valet parking are available, and the restaurant serves both lunch and dinner.
La Scarpetta’s commitment to quality and value has earned it a Michelin Bib Gourmand, an award that recognises good-quality, good-value cooking. It’s a place for those who enjoy eating, drinking, and sharing a table together — and, most of all, a piece of bread.
