The story
Paste is the creation of husband-and-wife team Bee Satongun and Jason Bailey. Chef Bee, named Asia’s Best Female Chef by World’s 50 Best Restaurants, brings a deep knowledge of Thai culinary heritage. Together with Jason Bailey, they opened Paste in 2013 after nine years of operating Thai restaurants. Their rigorous attention to detail and technical expertise allow them to create refined Thai food with layered depth and complexity.
Paste’s menu reaches into the depths of Thai history and heritage, with recipes inspired by Thai royalty, aristocratic families, and heritage cookbooks. The result is an exciting blend of passion and innovation, with artistic vision and bold flavours. The restaurant describes its cooking as “a symphony of spice, balance, and botanical brilliance” where no flavour stands alone. This dedication to reviving historic Thai recipes has earned Paste a Michelin Recommended distinction.
The wine list is thoughtfully curated with chef Bee’s cuisine in mind. There is a particular fondness for Champagne, and the selection champions aromatic whites from Germany, Austria, and Alsace, as well as elegant Pinot Noirs from around the world. The pairings are designed to complement the unique flavours of heirloom Thai cuisine.
Paste offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with both à la carte and tasting menus available for lunch and dinner. Located on the third floor of Gaysorn Village in central Bangkok, it has become one of the city’s most unique and delicious restaurants, celebrated for its bold flavours and artistic presentation.
