The story
Chef Philippe Peretti’s path to Bangkok began in Corsica, where a childhood fascination with French culinary art led him to train under top chefs in Michelin-starred kitchens across France. He earned diplomas in both Cooking and Restaurant Management from leading professional schools in France and England before setting out to explore the world’s cuisines.
His career has taken him through kitchens in New York, Hawaii, Israel, and across Europe, Asia, and Australia. Along the way, he was commissioned by Prince Ranariddh Norodom of Cambodia to train the Royal Palace’s food and beverage team. In 2005, Thai Airways invited him to design first- and business-class menus for their Bangkok-Europe and Bangkok-Australia routes. It was during a holiday in Thailand that he fell in love with the country and decided to make it his home.
At Philippe, Chef Peretti brings that depth of experience to a focused French menu. The restaurant is located on Sukhumvit Soi 39, serving lunch from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm and dinner from 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm, closed on Mondays. A sister operation, Maison Philippe, offers all-day dining, takeaway, and delivery nearby.
Philippe's wine list is carefully selected, featuring French bottles such as Morgon 2016 from Joseph Drouhin and Château La Fagnouse Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, alongside New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. The recognition from the Michelin guide, which lists Philippe as a Recommended restaurant, affirms the consistent quality of the kitchen.
For those seeking French cuisine in Bangkok that is both accomplished and unpretentious, Philippe delivers a meal rooted in classical technique and a chef’s lifetime of travel and training.
