The story
In the heart of Cappadocia, Tık Tık Kadın Emeği is more than a restaurant—it is a cooperative founded and run by the women of Ürgüp. Their mission is rooted in transforming women's labor into lasting value while preserving the region's cultural heritage. The result is a dining experience that is both traditional and deeply personal, recognised in the 2026 Michelin Guide.
The menu draws from the rich gastronomic history of a region that has hosted countless civilisations. Many of the dishes are based on recipes passed down from grandmothers, using ingredients still grown by traditional methods in the local area. The kitchen focuses on reviving nearly forgotten, ancient tastes, presented with a simple, modern touch. This is a sustainable, locally-minded kitchen that contributes directly to the community.
The story of Tık Tık is one of a decade-long collective effort by Ürgüplü women. Visionary Oya Özarslan provided the initial idea and leadership, while the hardworking women of the cooperative give it life every day. The town of Ürgüp itself provides the soul of the enterprise. The atmosphere is humble and welcoming, inviting guests to share in a meal that represents a genuine example of good, traditional Turkish cuisine.
