The story
The Oyster Club by Adam Stokes brings a casual, relaxed approach to dining in Birmingham. The menu focuses on fresh seasonal dishes alongside a carefully curated wine list, with a flexible format of snacks, small and large plates, plus an exceptional oyster and caviar selection. Whether you pop in for a few small plates, enjoy a traditional three-course meal, or indulge in one of the renowned platters, the experience is designed to be both approachable and memorable.
The restaurant’s Michelin Recommended status reflects the quality and consistency of its seafood-focused cooking. The kitchen highlights the best of the British coast, from hand-dived Orkney scallops to whole Dover sole, while the oyster bar offers a rotating selection of English and French varieties, including Jersey Rock, Maldon Rock, and Gillardeau. Dressed oysters – chilli and soy, Bloody Mary, or Buffalo & Ranch – add a playful twist.
Diners can choose from small plates like smoked haddock Scotch egg or aged beef fillet tartare, and large plates such as monkfish tail with red pepper and saffron sauce, or beer-battered haddock with triple-cooked chips. Caviar is served with crème fraîche and blinis, and the Sunday roast board features a Chateaubriand of Wiltshire beef. The bar area, Aphrodite’s Bar, offers the full menu in a more relaxed setting, with premium cocktails and champagne. Walk-ins are welcome all day, and happy hour brings two-for-one on English oysters and house cocktails from Wednesday to Friday.
