The story
Perched on the wild Lizard Peninsula, Fallowfields is a restaurant shaped by the land, the sea, and the community around it. Sustainability leads everything here, guiding the seasonal cooking and close relationships with local farmers, growers, and fishermen.
Chef Joseph Fallowfield harnesses the chaos of the sea and the tranquility of nature to craft tasting menus from the very best Cornwall has to offer. The tasting menu unfolds as a carefully crafted, linear narrative, with each dish representing a distinct chapter. The story runs for ten weeks before moving on to the next. The current menu, ‘After the Rain’, is priced at £80 per person, with optional wine pairings.
The restaurant’s recognition in the Michelin Guide is well-earned. As Fine Dining Lovers notes, “At Fallowfields, culinary precision meets a quietly adventurous spirit… every aspect of the experience, from the subtle interplay of texture to the nuanced balance of flavours, speaks to a guiding ethos of restrained creativity.”
Fallowfields is situated inside the most southerly hotel in mainland Britain, just a stone’s throw from the beach. The restaurant is open Thursday to Saturday evenings, with two seatings at 6:30pm and 7:30pm. Dietary requirements can be accommodated with advance notice for vegetarian, pescatarian, nut allergies, and gluten intolerances. Please note that a vegan tasting menu is not offered. A 10% discretionary service charge is added to the bill.
