The story
Since 2005, Table has been a cornerstone of downtown Asheville’s dining scene. Built by husband-and-wife team Jacob and Alicia Sessoms, this small, seasonal restaurant is the work of two-time James Beard Award nominee Chef Jacob Sessoms and his team at Perfectly Ad Hoc. The restaurant’s menu is rooted in American culinary traditions, with a particular focus on the Southeast, and built on long-standing relationships with local farmers and artisans.
The atmosphere is intimate and urban, with a welcoming staff that makes guests feel comfortable and well cared for. The dining room and small bar are designed to be the kind of place the Sessoms themselves wanted to frequent—a space for genuine hospitality and creative, ingredient-driven cooking.
The menu changes frequently, driven by what is available from nearby farms. Standout dishes from recent offerings include a Grilled Whole Rainbow Trout with market vegetables, a 40 oz. Dry Aged Bone-in Ribeye, and a deconstructed chicken and dumplings that has drawn praise from guests. The drink program is equally considered, with an interesting wine list and thoughtful cocktails.
Table’s commitment to quality and seasonality has earned it a Michelin Recommended distinction, placing it among the top restaurants in the region. It is a place where the food is inspired, fresh, and simply "damn good," as one regular put it. Whether you are stopping in for a burger at the bar or a full multi-course dinner, Table delivers a consistently excellent New American experience.
