From the outside, Shanahan's Steakhouse in Cherry Creek, Denver, could be mistaken for a modern art museum. Inside, the space is equally striking: contemporary paintings line the walls, Italian imported lighting adds warmth, and guests are seated on Brahma bull cowhide benches. For the wine connoisseur, a glass-enclosed cellar displays 4,000 bottles of red and 1,400 bottles of white wine. The bar features high-end spirits and plasma TVs for catching the game. In winter, a fireplace offers a cozy table; in warmer months, the outdoor patio is the place for summer specialty cocktails and fresh fish.

The restaurant is named for former Denver Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan, and his two Lombardi Super Bowl trophies are on display. Owner and Managing Partner Marc Steron, inducted into the Colorado Food Service Hall of Fame after 40 years, leads the team.

The Steakhouse Experience

The menu centers on USDA prime aged steaks, broiled at 1,500 degrees and custom-aged for 28 days. Cuts include the Center Barrel Cut Filet Mignon, Bone-In Filet Mignon, Prime Cowboy Bone-In Rib Eye, and a 24-ounce Dry-Aged Prime Porterhouse. A selection of American Wagyu, including a 36-ounce Wagyu Rib Eye Tomahawk, is also available. Seafood is flown in daily and certified by the Marine Stewardship Council, featuring items like Jumbo Lump Crab Cake, Charred Spanish Octopus, and Sashimi Grade Ahi Tuna Tartare. The menu also offers Colorado Prime Lamb Chops, a Berkshire Dry Aged Pork Chop, and a Herb Roasted Red Bird Chicken. Sides range from Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes to Black Truffle Mac ‘n Cheese and Hoisin Glazed Brussels Sprouts.

An Award-Winning Wine Program

The wine program at this Cherry Creek steakhouse is comprehensive, featuring over 800 selections from more than 20 countries. The focus is on low-production, family-owned, boutique wines from the world’s finest regions, supplemented by respected names like Turley, Sine Qua Non, and Krug. Since 2011, the list has earned the Wine Spectator "Best of Award of Excellence," recognizing it as one of the best in the world.
