The story
Jeong, located on West Chicago Avenue in Chicago's West Town, focuses entirely on a single tasting menu that evolves with the seasons. The restaurant's approach is contemporary Korean—modern techniques applied to Korean ingredients and flavor profiles.
The current progression opens with Hwe, bream, and mul kimchi, then moves to salmon with yuza and dwenjang. Chilled guksu with octopus and ssuk leads into a seared scallop with beurre blanc. Halibut is paired with kimchi and chrysanthemum, followed by Australian wagyu with carrot veloute and mokgeolli. Desserts include a citrus creation with curd, granita, white chocolate, and nori, plus suejeongghwa with quince and tapioca.
The tasting menu is priced at $155 before tax and tip. An optional wine pairing is available for $85.
Jeong has earned a Michelin Recommended distinction, a reflection of its careful, ingredient-driven cooking that honors Korean traditions while pushing forward.
