The story
Since 1979, Fogo de Chão has been perfecting the centuries-old culinary art of churrasco, a tradition rooted in the mountainous landscapes of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The founders grew up on a traditional Southern Brazilian farm, learning the grilling techniques that would become the foundation of this authentic Brazilian steakhouse. Today, the Fort Lauderdale location on East Las Olas Boulevard brings that same fire and heritage to the table.
At the heart of the experience is the continuous service of fire-roasted meats, carved tableside by gaucho chefs. Guests begin at the Market Table, a fresh and vibrant spread of salads, vegetables, and imported cheeses. Then, the meal unfolds with signature Brazilian cuts like Picanha (prime part of the top sirloin), Fraldinha (bottom sirloin), and Costela (beef ribs slow-roasted for over five hours). The culinary team continues to push the tradition forward, introducing new creations rooted in Brazilian flavors.
Fogo de Chão’s commitment to excellence extends to its cellar, earning a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2023. The restaurant’s own Founders Tribute Wine Collection offers carefully selected South American bottles designed to pair perfectly with the menu. Guests can also enjoy Brazilian-inspired cocktails and small plates at Bar Fogo, making the restaurant a destination for both steak lovers and wine enthusiasts.
