The story
Ranch House Restaurant & Saloon occupies the original 1930s homestead at Devil’s Thumb Ranch, set in the Ranch Creek Valley with the Continental Divide rising 4,000 feet above. Worn pine floors and windows overlooking meadows where elk and moose wander create an unpretentious, welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant’s philosophy: "Real food. Real ingredients. Real flavors."
This is modern-western American cooking, rooted in the steakhouse tradition. The kitchen’s pride is 100% Wagyu beef from the ranch’s own purebred herd—one of the few operations in the country to breed Wagyu cattle. The beef is served only on-site, prized for its intense marbling and buttery tenderness. All ingredients are all-natural and locally sourced whenever possible.
The wine program earned a Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence, reflecting a list that complements the steakhouse menu. On Wednesdays, guests enjoy 50% off any bottle priced at $100 or less.
The main dining room requires reservations and serves dinner Wednesday through Sunday. For a more relaxed evening, the Saloon offers a separate menu on a first-come basis—no reservation needed. Seasonal specials like the $25 Beer & Burger deal make the Saloon a popular choice.
