The story
At Troubadour, the flavors of Sonoma’s farms and the elegance of French culinary traditions ride in tandem. By day, the space operates as a warm bakery and coffee bar, offering fresh-baked, long-fermented sourdough loaves still warm from the oven, pastries, and artisanal sandwiches served on their own breads. When night falls, the room transforms into Le Dîner, an intimate bistro that the MICHELIN Guide has recognized for its craftsmanship and quality.
Owners Sean and Melissa McGaughey bring deep roots in Sonoma County’s fine-dining scene. Sean spent over five years at SingleThread, eventually serving as Head Chef, before co-launching the Quail & Condor bakery with Melissa during the pandemic. Melissa, a pastry-school graduate and winner of Food Network’s Holiday Baking Championship, led pastry programs at Bien Cuit in New York and Gjusta in Los Angeles. Together, they opened Troubadour Bread & Bistro in 2022. Chef de Cuisine Daniel Walsh leads the kitchen, while General Manager Caleb Carroll and Service Director Emma DelMonte oversee the front of house.
The evening menu leans into French classics reimagined with California ingredients. Guests choose between a meticulously crafted seven-course tasting menu in the main dining room or an 11-course Chef’s Table experience in a private study. Each dish reflects deep-rooted partnerships with local farmers and winemakers, and the wine list—curated by the team—features regional and international selections chosen to elevate every bite. The MICHELIN Guide’s Recommended designation underscores the precision and hospitality at play here.
Beyond the plate, Troubadour prioritizes environmental stewardship. The restaurant partners with Zero Foodprint, holds the Snail of Approval from Slow Food Sonoma North, and supports community initiatives focused on the land they call home. Whether you’re a neighbor in Healdsburg or visiting Sonoma County, Troubadour offers a memorably delicious journey that celebrates French cuisine, Sonoma’s harvests, and the artistry of bread.
