The story
Oliver's Osteria brings the warmth of Italian cooking to Laguna Beach. The restaurant, named after chef-owner Erik De Marchi’s son, reflects a deeply personal dream: to create a place where family and food come together.
Chef De Marchi was born and raised in Imola, Italy, and trained at the IAL Culinary Academy of Emilia-Romagna. He moved to Los Angeles in 2002, working alongside Chef Gino Angeleini at Angelini Osteria. After years in the city’s Italian restaurants, he opened Oliver’s Osteria in Laguna Beach — on the same day his son was born. That connection runs through every dish: fresh, authentic, prepared with care.
The menu highlights Italian cuisine, with a focus on seasonal ingredients and traditional techniques. Brunch is also served, adding a relaxed daytime option. The restaurant’s outdoor seating and valet parking make it a comfortable destination for any occasion.
Oliver’s Osteria has earned a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026, a testament to its consistent quality and the skill of Chef De Marchi’s kitchen. The award places the restaurant among the noteworthy Italian spots in Southern California.
After six years in Laguna Beach, Chef De Marchi expanded with Oliver’s Trattoria in Irvine, offering the same approach to Italian cooking.
Due to an unexpected fire, the Laguna Beach location is temporarily closed. The team is working with authorities to reopen as soon as possible. In the meantime, guests can visit the Irvine location for a similar experience.
